I am super excited!
Tomorrow is my very first bake sale! Well, its more of a food exhibition (organised by Small Fry Co.) with a whole lot of interesting food businesses selling (read: BawiBride, Life Ki Recipe, Between Breads, Story in a Jar, Terra Farms, etc) and promoting their wares under one roof.
It has been some time since I’ve been thinking of where I want my food blogging to take me. And, it opened up a gamut of opportunities. The one that interested me the most (read: throwback to childhood dreams) was the idea of retail. The idea of selling my wares, perfecting them over time and adding that homely touch to food that is otherwise preservative driven and artificial after a point excites me. The next question was what to sell?
Baked goodies have taken India, and Mumbai specifically, by storm. Over the past five years, baking entrepreneurs have cropped up across the city selling everything from cupcakes (which have been done to death), pies, tarts, cookies, cheesecake, macarons, artistic cakes (using fondant, like in Cake Boss), etc. I wanted to do something different, something more rustic, homely, warm. And, a batch of some Double Chocolate Choco-chunk Muffins that I made over a leisurely weekend some time ago seemed to hit the right spot.
Anyway, this opportunity of Bombay Local came up when Perzen aka BawiBride asked if anyone was available to share a stall with her. And I, on the spur of the moment, just 2 weeks before the event, stepped up! I took it up with no idea whatsoever of how, when, why! And, I finally have my menu in place and the event is tomorrow!
Please do come join us at Bombay Local, January 25th, 2014!
And here’s my menu. You can also order the muffins and biscotti separately in bulk through the details below the menu.
I’m now off, with butterflies in my tummy, to bake a huge batch of muffins for tomorrow. Hope to see you all there!
